The traditional Fête de la Mer in Le Crotoy, on the Bay of the Somme, will be held this weekend of 3 to 4 August 2024. Every year, this celebration honours the sailors and fishing industry of Le Crotoy.
The Fête de la Mer is a fixture in the traditional local calendar. Organised by the Association of Sailors and Former Sailors (AMAM), the Fête de la Mer will take place on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August. On both days, there will be musical entertainment and food stalls in the Place Jeanne d’Arc.
On Sunday 4 August, at around 9am, a religious service will be held in the church of Saint-Pierre, with music provided by the Amis réunis band. This will be followed by a procession, at around 10.30am, through the streets and harbour in traditional costumes, followed by the blessing of the boats on the quayside and/or at sea, depending on the weather and tidal conditions.
